TV Highlights That May Speak To Geeks: September

z nationShows have come and gone, some we have fell in love with, and some we were sorely disappointed in. September is almost here and there is a lot of possible geeky goodness coming our way.

September 1: Houdini is a two night miniseries that debuts on the History Channel starring Adrien Brody as the famous magician. If the trailer is anything to go by this looks amazing.

September 12: Z Nation, 10:00 PM on Syfy. It has zombies, of course I will watch it. The premise is that there is one human being who has been bitten and yet, not turned into a zombie. He may be the key to curing the pandemic.

September 22: Forever premieres at 10:00 PM on ABC. Normally, I wouldn’t post about procedural’s show, but this one has an interesting twist. The medical examiner in this show just happens to be immortal and Judd Hirsh is the one person who knows his secret. Be aware that this is a special premiere. The show will move to its regular spot the following week; Tuesday’s at 10:00 PM.

Gotham on FOX at 8:00 PM. If you haven’t seen the previews running on FOX you would be one of the few. If you are the premise is that what was Gotham City like pre-Batman. What were the bad guys like in their younger days. More importantly, what was James Gordon like in his rookie days?

Scorpion airs on CBS at 9:00 PM. Here is another procedural that is being billed as a cross between Big Bang Theory, Ocean’s 11, and Numb3rs.  What is it – a team super geniuses are brought together to work for Homeland Security. They are hardcore nerdy and hardcore awkward, but super effective.

September 26Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of  Fleet Street at 9:00 PM on PBS. The special stars Emma Thompson. The is a telecast of a recent New York Philharmonic Lincoln Center special presentation. This is a must record for all theatre geeks.
