Muggles Market Monday Spotlight: LumiFae

Welcome to Muggles Market Monday!  Each week we are spotlighting one of the artisans scheduled to appear at our brand new Muggles’ Market at this year’s Geek Gala.  This week’s featured artisan is LumiFae.  Joanna Hart took a few minutes to answer some questions about her business and general geekery.

  • What kind of items will you be selling at this year’s Muggles Market?
I will be selling my Handmade Festivalwear and Jewelry, including Mermaid Crowns, LED Fairy Crowns, Horns, Unicorn Horns, and LED Unicorn Horns.
  • How did you first get started making these things?
I’ve been into making jewelry for quite a while, but the horns were a total surprise. I decided to experiment and make some horns just for fun. When I took them to a local market, they were really well received, so I decided to run with it and eventually started to play with LEDs and now here I am.
  • What has been one of your favorite projects to work on?
Creating new pieces is always my favorite. I love the process of taking my ideas and turning them into reality. Also any project that allows me to paint! Painting is my favorite.
  • What else can you tell us about yourself?

I’m a Greensboro native, and I run this one-woman shop know as LumiFae. Art has always and will always be a part of me. I am passionate about making unique pieces that make people smile.

  • So this year’s Geek Gala is about space travel – if you could join any TV/Movie space crew – who would it be and why?
That’s a really tough one. I think I’ll have to stretch the term “crew” and say I’d like to join the crew of the TARDIS. (It totally counts, shhh). All of space and time! I could go literally anywhere, and visit amazing planets I’ve never even heard of. Always a new adventure with lots of new and interesting people/creatures to meet.
  • Check out their website at:  LumiFae

And make plans to come visit them on Saturday, October 22nd at this year’s Geek Gala!
