Merry Geekmas Holiday Flash Fiction – Open Call for Submissions!

Hello, Writing Geeks!  Nothing says the holidays like gift cards!  And we’ve got some great ones to give away!  So, if you’re interested in attaining one of these bad boys, you might want to consider entering our Merry Geekmas Holiday Flash Fiction Event!

What It Is

Tell us a story about a holiday – real or within the imaginary setting of your choice -in under 2,000 words.  Any genre is welcome: humor, fantasy, sci fi, horror, graphic fiction, etc.  The geekier the better!

Starting November 29th, 1 story each week will be chosen and published on CharlotteGeeks.com.

How It Works

  1. Submit your geeky holiday story (2,000 words or less) to flashfic@charlottegeeks.com.

Please make sure to include the following:

    • Your name as you would like it to appear
    • The name of your story
    • A brief bio (50 words or less)
    • Your website or Facebook page URL (optional)
    • Your short story in mostly English and Word format (or hi-res images if a graphic work).
  2. The short story must be in keeping with the theme and be your own original, unpublished work.
  3. Please observe the 2,000 word limit – graphic works will also be considered.
  4. Please do not post your short story elsewhere until you have confirmed that your work will not be used.
  5. Participants agree to have their work published on our website between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. (Participants retain all other rights.)
  6. If chosen, the recipient will receive a Hickory Tavern gift card with a value of $25 or more, or an item of equivalent value.
  7. Each week a new story will be chosen from the current list of submissions.  It is not necessary to re-submit your story more than once – it will roll over into the next week if not previously selected.
  8. All decisions of the judges are final.
  9. Submission entries window:  November 22, 2017 – December 22, 2017.  Final story will be posted on New Year’s Day.

Break a pen, everyone!
