a Spider, a Clown, a Wolfe, a Mason, a Sigfrit, and a few Ex-Cons stroll into Geek Gala . . .

The Geek Gala planning committee has been hard at work making our 10th anniversary gala amazing – including a super group of geeky musical talents!  A mixture of old and new – this year’s lineup is sure to get hands to clapping, toes to tapping, and keep the whole joint jumping!

Our 2018 Lineup

Victorian Chamber Metal group Valentine Wolfe will be returning for their second time – they last performed with us at the 2015 Geek Gala: Monster Mash.

Founding Charlotte Geeks’ member DJ Spider will be our house DJ – she was a guest judge for the talent show at the 2010 Geek Gala: InterGalactic Carnival, and has also spun tracks for us several times over the years, including at the 2014 Geek Gala: Charlotte Geeks’ Excellent Adventure.  We are so excited to have her keep the music flowing throughout the evening as we transition onstage!

Madison Metricula Roberts will be returning after appearing with us last year at the 2017 Geek Gala: Geekzilla, King of the Carolinas – not only will she again be hosting the Nerd Music Campfire on Friday night – but she will also be managing our Muggles Market Music Tent and running tech! Go Madison!

Returning for his 6th appearance is Comedy Rock Star Mikey Mason – who’s more than just a performer – he’s family.  He first joined us at the 2012 Geek Gala: Friends and Foes and after that, was often accompanied by his wife Jody and sons Ben and Jack. With his special mix of redneck geekery, comedy genius, and musical mayhem – we always know he’ll bring a rocking good time.

Podcasting’s Rich Sigfrit will again be assisting as an emcee – although this is his second time taking over with main hosting duties – Rich has been with us since 2015 Geek Gala: Monster Mash assisting with our after-dark performances.

And brand new, and very exciting for us this year is the addition of steampunk band The Extraordinary Contraptions. If you’ve ever been to DragonCon and watched DCTV – you may have seen their “I’m On A Blimp” video – and you may have heard us interview David Tyberg on the podcast about his solo project.  The band is working on their new album now and we are so excited to have them showcase some of the new songs in November.

Self-dubbed the GiddyGeeker, her geekdoms are Doctor Who, Marvel, Boardgaming, British TV (MisFits, Orphan Black, Sherlock, The IT Crowd, etc) and she is slightly addicted to FUNKO pops.
